While balancing a full-time job with real estate investing, I sold my apartment in Seoul in 2019 and bought a mixed-use retail and residential building in Tokyo. It was a choice to build a steady rental income and to design the rest of my life on my own terms.
After buying the building, I went through every stage myself, from rental management and renovation to dealing with vacancies and, finally, the sale. Even amid the unexpected circumstances of COVID-19, I found ways to raise the building's value, and after selling my first building I went on to invest in a new commercial building.
I set down the experience and the criteria for judgment I gained along the way in 《서울을 팔고 도쿄를 샀습니다》 (I Sold Seoul and Bought Tokyo) and 《일본 부동산 직접 투자 최강 바이블》 (The Ultimate Bible of Direct Investment in Japanese Real Estate). Recording and sharing what I learned firsthand led to lectures and consultations, and brought me together with many investors considering Japanese real estate.
Today, based in Tokyo, I continue to invest in and operate real estate while sharing my experience from the field through writing and consulting. Remembering the questions I had when I first prepared to invest overseas, I want to be someone who explains, in concrete terms, what investors actually want to know.
